Toy Story 4?

As some of you may have heard, Tom Hanks was recently quoted talking about the possiblitiy of another Toy Story film. While general reception for this idea so far has been fairly mixed, with people wanting to see these characters again but at the same time don't want the perfect ending of Toy Story 3 to be ruined. So the question that remains is where do Pixar take the Toy Story franchise? Do they make a seuqel trilogy feature Bonnie and the adventures the gang have with her? Or do they do something much more different and go back to the start.

If I was ever going to write the next Toy Story film (and god someday I hope that might be the case), I wouldn't make the film a sequel. To continue the Toy Story films would be a mistake, there story has ended and it ended perfectly, tears and all. So instead we go back to where it all began, with how Woody became Andy's favourite toy.

Instead of calling th film Toy Story 4, it would be titled A Toy Story, and focus on why Woody has such a deep love for Andy, why he became leader of the bedroom (escpecially considering a few of the toys really didn't like him) and how he knows so much about the outside world. Yes that's right I am a massive Woody fan. I can still remember owning a life-size (so normal toy size) replica that I took absolutely everywhere. So I've always been curious as to his own backstory. We've seen Jesse's backstory, the first film was about Buzz join the group so we know that story but we don't ever know why Andy loved Woody so much. So here is my idea for what A Toy Story could be about.

The film would start out like the nw one did, a home movie camera watching a 2 year old child opening up a Christmas/Birthday present. The child is wearing a cowboy outfit and looks a little like Andy did. The child opens up the present and its Woody, all sparkling and new. The child is overwhelmed with joy and the two spend hour and hour playing together. The child is (somehow, still working that part out) to be Andy's father, not actually Andy. Think about it, we've never actually seen Andy's father or know anything about him. So its plausable to believe that Woody was passed down to Andy. Anyway the film would need to go through something for an hour or so (still working on the actual plot I guess I've only got an ending). The ending is set thirty years later, with the child, now all grown up, having a wife and son. Woody has long since been put into the attic and therefore knows all bout how safe it is. Actually there is a plot for you. Woody has always been told that the attic is a terrifying and horrific place and then he's thrown into it when Andy's father (lets call him Jonh for now) is older and doesn't play with him anymore. When Woody goes into the attic, it would play on the horror cliches and play around with that but in the end Woody will regonise that its not so scary and everyone is welcoming and kind.

Anyway, sorry I started rambling then, back to the ending. Woody has long since been placed in the attic, and there could be a montage sequence or something that shows John growing up and I dunno still working on it but then he gets cancer or something and passes away. After John's death the mother (what was her name in the series?) cleans out the attic and comes accross his box of old toys. Heartbroken by his memory, she takes the box downstairs and considers throwing it away. Then comes along two year old Andy who sees the box and (and this is the most important part, it has to be like this or it won't work) Andy takes Woody out of the box and holds it. The mother tries to take it back but Andy refuses to let it go. The mother accepts that she's going to have to keep Woody. Andy and Woody spend the afternoon playing together before Andy takes him to bed, thus beginning the cycle of Woody has the head of the bedroom.

So what do you think? Comment below, let me know. I know it's a little dark for a Toy Story movie, but I mean so was Toy Story 3. The death wouldn't be shown but instead implied. That's my thoughts on what I think Toy Story 4 could be, a sequel no, prequel yes. This is Mad Movie Man checking out, I'll see you at the theatre
